Mercury Racing has awarded its third annual scholarship to two local high school students Ryan Beck of New Holstein, Wisconsin and Caleb Cochran of Eden, Wisconsin for $5000 each. The goal of the scholarship is to alleviate financial stress of post-secondary education and support the continued growth of skilled tradespeople in our community.
Companies such as Mercury Racing rely on skilled individuals with a strong work ethic and passion to build and service niche products. This scholarship will help grow the local workforce by providing the education and tools needed to succeed.
“Winning this scholarship means a lot to me because it proves to myself that the hard work, I put into furthering my knowledge and skills in the trades has paid off, said Beck.
Beck will attend Lakeshore Technical College in the fall for the Weld Fabrication Technology program. Cochran will attend Moraine Park Technical College and will pursue a degree in Mechanical Design Technology.
As for Cochran’s reaction to the award, he said, “I have Grown-up using Mercury outboard’s my whole life so being awarded the scholarship is extra special to me. The financial resources the scholarship provides will allow me to focus on my studies and one day, hopefully, be able to design and build motors for Mercury Racing.”
“This is the third year we have provided this scholarship, and this year we are proud to award this money to two very deserving individuals who clearly have a passion for pursuing a technical trade,” said Stuart Halley, general manager, “Mercury Racing depends on skilled tradespeople to have a prosperous future. It is our mission to continue to grow this program so that more students, like Ryan and Caleb, have the financial support they need to be successful.”
Mercury Racing congratulates Beck and Cochran on this accomplishment and wishes to thank all who applied for this scholarship and express our congratulations on a successful 2021 graduation.
