The versatile OptiMax 250XS outboard continues to demonstrate the extended operating range and durability of Mercury's two-cycle, direct fuel injection, low-emissions technology, without sacrificing the performance one expects from Mercury Racing. The ability to carry less fuel reduces weight, while enhancing overall boat efficiency and performance.

The 250XS has proven itself so well in the field that it has spawned the birth of the all-new Mercury 250 Pro XS outboard available from Mercury Outboards.

Purists will be pleased to know Mercury Racing 250XS models are available with heavy-duty Sport Master or Fleet Master gearcases in 20" - 30" shaft lengths in both right-hand and left-hand rotation.

Engine upgrades include new Multistrike coils for improved idle and overall running quality. The new PCM 07 controller features increasedcapacity real-time monitoring of engine and vessel data. New exhaust bucket design reduces engine operating sound levels.

Customer Satisfaction

J.D. Power Mercury OptiMax – the marine industry's leading DI two-stroke outboard – was recognized as "Highest in Customer Satisfaction With Two-Stroke Outboard Engines." OptiMax engines are made in Fond du Lac, Wis., home of Mercury Marine.

Mercury Marine is the only marine engine manufacturer to receive this prestigious award three years in a row.

The 2008 study found that OptiMax ranked highest for overall satisfaction among two-stroke outboard engine owners. On average, Mercury OptiMax engine owners also reported fewer problems per 100 boats than the competition. In terms of fuel economy, owners again gave the OptiMax top marks.
